GVE’s team volunteer at winter shelter
GVE’s team have been supporting homeless people in Maidstone this winter by volunteering for a great local initiative. The Maidstone Churches Winter Shelter (MCWS), set up in 2013, provides a warm bed, hot meals and a listening ear to those in need of an overnight stay across various church facilities in the town.
Our quantity surveyors including Luke Parham, Karolina Lukosiunaite, Andy Inchmore and programmer, Naomi Sanger visited the shelter during various afternoon sessions in January 2026 to help out in the kitchen – preparing & serving food and hot beverages, whilst chatting to the guests. They have been touched by the people they have met who are staying in the shelter, and the incredible team at MCWS, both the charity’s support workers and volunteers who are making a difference to the homeless community in Maidstone during the coldest months.
The charity, which operates annually from January until April, not only provides food and accommodation but also supports guests with advice and information to help them access any services they need, and signpost to relevant organisations.
GVE has been supporting the charity with donations from our team’s fundraising initiatives over recent years and was pleased to have the opportunity to get more involved in their work. Contributing, in-person, to our local community is an important part of our work and demonstrates our commitment to social value. We look forward to working on more hands-on community-based initiatives throughout 2026.
