GVE donates to local charity from 20th year events

GVE are celebrating after raising a grand total of £1,807 for Kent-based charity, Pilgrims Hospices with a range of fundraising events held across June and July including a team hiking challenge and our 20th Year Summer Party fundraiser.

GVE team trek - Pilgrims Way Challenge

On Saturday 21st June 2025, GVE’s team took part in the 2025 Pilgrims Way Challenge, hiking 25k across the Pilgrims Way from Canterbury to Wye, nr Ashford in 30+ degree heat. Armed with plenty of water, shaded gear and sun cream to combat rising temperatures and the strong summer sun, our team joined 700 walkers for the annual event.

We enjoyed the surroundings of the picturesque Kent countryside walking through fields, villages and woodlands across the North Downs. The fantastic team of staff and volunteers at Pilgrims Hospices were on hand to provide ice cold drinks and energy-packed snacks to keep us going and cheer walkers on their way.

We were delighted (and relieved!) to cross the finish line, completing the challenge in six hours. We celebrated with hamburgers supplied by the organisers and an obligatory pint in the local village pub. GVE’s team raised an incredible £800 for their joint-effort - it was worth every step!

Chosen charity - 20th Year Summer Party

Just a few weeks later, GVE’s team were getting ready for their event of the year - the 20th Year Summer Party and BBQ. Our clients, colleagues, industry friends and family members joined us to celebrate our 20th anniversary at a vibrant Brazilian-themed event in Maidstone.

We chose to support Pilgrims Hospices at the event, giving our guests an opportunity to get involved with fundraising activities. Guests generously donated funds into fundraising buckets and at donation points at the bar as well as purchasing raffle tickets for chance win some fantastic prizes donated by associated businesses. We raised over £1000 on the night, making the event an even more momentous occasion.

Leila Ilkan, Corporate and Trusts Partnership Manager from Pilgrims Hospices was delighted to be GVE's chosen charity for our 20th year events. She said "We are proud to be supported by GVE, particularly during their 20th anniversary year. A huge thank you to the team for being part of our hospice journey and ensuring so many people can access the care they need at the end of their life."

GVE would like to thank everyone who supported us during our 20th year fundraising events by sponsoring our team or donating. Pilgrims Hospices provides compassionate end-of-life care to patients across East Kent from their centres in Ashford, Canterbury and Thanet, and providing much-needed to support to families of loved ones at the most difficult time. We are pleased to make this contribution to their work to support the local community.
